SPORTS NEWS: UR-Huye Handball Teams Impress in Varsity League

The handball teams of University of Rwanda Huye showed strong performances during the Varsity League tournament held at the University of Rwanda Remera campus.
#Men’s Team Performance
The UR Huye men’s team started the competition with a good 22–18 victory over UR Rukara. The players worked together well and played with confidence.
On Saturday, 23/05/2026, UR Huye continued their good form by beating INES Ruhengeri 22–10. The team controlled the match and secured another important win.
In their last group-stage game on Sunday, 24/05/2026, UR Huye faced the University of Kigali. The match was competitive, but the University of Kigali won 16–13.
UR Huye finished the group stage with two wins and one loss.
#Women’s Team Victory
The UR Huye women’s handball team also performed well during the tournament.
On Sunday morning, they defeated University of Rwanda Rukara 13–10 in a match played at the University of Rwanda Remera playground.
The team showed good teamwork and strong defense to earn the victory.
Both the men’s and women’s teams represented UR Huye proudly and showed great effort throughout the Varsity League competition.
