The University of Rwanda, Huye Campus, on Wednesday hosted a Public Talk in honor of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, bringing together key institutional leaders and student representatives.
The event was graced by Assoc. Prof. Anne Marie Kagwesage Director of the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at the University of Rwanda, alongside campus officials responsible for student welfareTheresie Nyirahabimana . Their presence underscored the institution’s commitment to promoting inclusion and equal opportunities for all learners.
During the panel discussions, speakers stressed the importance of resilience, self-reliance, and the principle that disability is not inability. They emphasized that persons with disabilities possess talent, potential, and the capacity to make meaningful contributions to the nation’s development when provided with the right support and environment.
The event concluded with the distribution of essential assistive materials aimed at supporting students with disabilities in their daily activities and enhancing their academic experience.
